This Museum focuses a bit much on the TV version of Ingalls Wilder, but it was still enjoyable with lots of opportunities to learn about life on the early American frontier. Plan on spending a few hours here. In my judgment, the museum was worth its entrance price. The people were welcoming, and the facilities clean and informative.
Has a lot of items at the gift shop. The museum is very informative and interesting. My daughter loves Little House on the Prairie she had a great time.
Wonderfully informative with fun hands on activities for the kids. Several of the buildings are air conditioned. The museum covers general pioneer life, the Ingalls family, and the television show. The gift shop carries all something for everyone.
My family and I were able to trace a few places in the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Walnut Grove was our second stop. The entire family really enjoyed themselves here. The Museum had rooms filled with artifacts from the lives of the Ingalls family and from the show (Little House on the Prairie). The site of the dugout house from "On the Banks of Plum Creek," is just a short drive from the museum.
Lots of artifacts from Laura's family, historical information, mock buildings from the time period (schoolhouse, dugout home, mercantile, etc.), Also there is a live outdoor theatrical show on select weekends in July that tells the Laura Engalls Wilder story at Plum Creek. Also a large gift store with books, period dress and memorabilia. Museum admission is $15, under 5 free.
